Clive Christian, the British luxury goods firm that makes the world’s most expensive perfume, has bucked the economic downturn and reported a 14.2 per cent increase in revenue to £13.2million for the year-ending December 31, 2012.
The Cheshire-based group benefited from last year’s jubilee celebrations as its products are closely linked to the Royal family. In 1999 it acquired the Crown Perfumery, which supplied royalty including Queen Victoria who granted it the image of her crown in 1872.
In 2002 the Crown Perfumery ceased production of its entire portfolio of 27 fragrances due to poor sales performance. It replaced them with a range including No.1 which was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most expensive perfume.
The highest-priced bottles cost more than £115,000.
