A habitual thief, from Northampton, stole more than £1,500 of perfume and meat products to feed her drug habit in a five-month crime spree, a court heard.
Kelly Nelligan stole aftershaves, perfumes, meat and razor blades from shops in Northampton and Kettering to sell to pay for drugs, Northampton Magistrates Court was told.
The offences, which took place between March 27 and August 4, were all from branches of the Co-op and Boots in Northampton, and Boots in Kettering.
The total value of the items was £1,765, and the hauls ranged in value from £7 to £596.
Nelligan, aged 31, of Abington Avenue, Abington, admitted eight charges of theft from a shop, and asked for a ninth offence to be taken into account.
Kwok Wan, prosecuting, said: “The nature of her thieving is being put down to three categories – groceries, meat products and items of perfumery.
“The nature of the offences is unsophisticated. She is concealing the items under her coat or putting them into her handbag.”
John Weaver, mitigating, said: “She is desperate to get off drugs.
“You will note she has a lengthy record and a lot of that is down to her drug consumption.”
Sentencing was adjourned until later this month to allow for Nelligan to be assessed for a drug rehabilitation order. She was released on bail and put on a curfew.
