Alesha Dixon to name next perfume after daughter?

The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge thinks her three-month-old daughter Azura Sienna's name has ''mystical'' qualities which perfectly match the floral notes of her first fragrance, Rose Quartz.

Speaking at the launch of her perfume at London's St Martin's Lane Hotel yesterday (08.01.14), she told BANG Showbiz: ''I think Azura would have made a really good name for a perfume. It sounds quite mystical doesn't it! Who knows, she might influence the next one.''

However, Alesha had already decided on the perfect name for her scent, which she has been developing since 2009, and insists she has taken the creation process seriously, unlike many other stars who simply put their name to a fragrance.

She explained: ''I could easily have said yes to the first thing, but what's the point, you want something that people are genuinely going to like. These things take time.

''We're doing the whole crystal collection and I'm taking my time. That's all I can do to make sure people see it's an authentic venture. As a girl, it's a real treat to be able to say I have a fragrance, it's special.''

Alesha was back at work this week for the first time since giving birth to Azura - who she has with her partner Azuka Ononye - in October and she has enjoyed focusing solely on motherhood for the last few months.

The 35-year-old singer said: ''Becoming a mum delayed the perfume. Originally I was going to bring it out at Christmas, but then thought it was best to wait until I'd had the baby so I could focus on the launch.''

Alesha Rose Quartz is a feminine and classic floral fragrance, with the notes reflecting the healing qualities of the rose quartz crystal. It is priced at £25.00 for 50ml and will be available to buy from leading fragrance outlets from March 2014.

Beyoncé Rise (2014) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

Pop singer Beyoncé will launch a new women's perfume from February 2014 called Rise. She inaugurates a new franchise after Heat and Pulse...

The fragrance was composed by perfumer Loc Dong of IFF. The name of the perfume "Rise" is meant to be a war cry, inviting women to be all that they want to be in life.

The composition features a floral accord of orchid as this is Beyoncé's favorite flower, inspired by either a varietal, Gold Symphony, or an imagined accord called this way. MTV Style show a picture of the press package an editor was sent with opulent orchids attached to it. Generally speaking, the perfume has been created around the color gold to symbolize energy, optimism, power and strength. Beyoncé's husband is not fortuitously lanching a perfume for men inspired by the color gold as well, Jay Z Gold for Men.

The eau de parfum opens on top notes of bergamot, apricot and basil sorbet followed by a heart showcasing the Gold Symphony orchid accord , freesia and jasmine sambac. In the base, which is woody, there are notes of cashmere woods, musk and vetiver.

MK and A Want to Sell You a Perfume That Smells Like Lying in Bed

The December issue of Allure has two covers: One of Ashley Olsen, one of Mary-Kate Olsen. The tycoons are launching a duo of perfumes connected to their designer label Elizabeth and James.

As Fashionista reports,

Just as there are twin-sided fragrances on the way — Nirvana White and Nirvana Black — the girls got twin-sided covers, one featuring Ashley in white and the other Mary-Kate in black.

Apparently to these sisters, Nirvana is "when we're in bed at home." So the fragrance is "intimate" and smells like linens and bodywash (floral musk, sandalwood, violet). Chic.

Of course, Nirvana is not the first scent from these two: They had a bunch of tweenage perfumes back in the day. Raise your hand if you had Tokyo Fusion or NY Chic.

5 Tips for Finding the Perfect Perfume for Your Wedding Day

When it comes to your wedding day, you'll want to smell as amazing as you'll surely look. That's why finding the right fragrance is just as important as picking out your dream wedding dress. Before you start spritzing, you'll need to know when to shop, how to test out various perfumes, and what will determine the best scent for your body. You—and everyone who catches a whiff—can thank us later.

1. When you embark on shopping for a wedding-day fragrance, go in the afternoon, when your sense of smell is at its peak.

2. Find your fragrance type. Are you "fresh" (i.e., a fruity floral) or "warm" (e.g., a spicy musk)? Picking one will help you tailor your search, says Chris Wyatt, head of global education at Jo Malone.

3. Don't be a follower. Body chemistry can change the way a perfume smells, so what works for your BFF—or your favorite celeb—may not work for you.

4. Skip the blotting strips—because you won't know how a scent smells on your skin until it's, well, on your skin. Aim the atomizer at pulse points like your wrists, neck, and décolletage. And limit yourself to two scents per shopping trip to avoid olfactory burnout.

5. Sit with it. Most perfumes take at least half an hour to dry. And until one does, you won't be able to smell the top, middle, and base notes. So take a little walk before you commit.

And if buying perfume over-the-counter doesn't do the trick, why not try a custom blend? Hello, you're personalizing your cocktail—why not your fragrance? Bespoke perfumer Sarah Horowitz just launched Original Scent (from $99) helping brides and grooms create totally one-of-a-kind wedding fragrances. You can even have yours made into a unity candle for your ceremony. Love that!

Fragrance 101: Everything You Need to Know About Picking the Perfect Scent

Divine Caroline: Can you break down some of the lingo we always hear when looking for a perfume. What exactly are top notes, base notes, etc.?
Renee Bukowski: Unlike flowers where the taste is received all at once, fragrances evaporate and reach the nose over time. A general composition of fragrance is a fragrance pyramid, which has top, mid and base notes. Top notes are what you smell first. These are the citrus, fruity, ozonic notes. Mid, or heart notes, are the floral, spice and herbaceous notes. Base notes consist of woods, balsams and musks.

DC: How can you choose the right fragrance when you’re in a store for a limited period of time and there are so many scents to test out?
RB: When choosing a fragrance, spray the scent on a blotter card to pick up the top note or initial impression. Blotter cards are a great way to sample multiple fragrances at once. Next, you want to determine which scent you liked most and spray it on your wrist. Don’t rub your wrists together, but rather pat them lightly together and smell throughout the day. It’s important to notice the fragrance evolving from the top, mid and base notes through the day and to fall in love with the fragrance as it dries down.

DC: Where should you spray your perfume to get that great scent to last all day?
RB: Spray on your pulse points: wrists, neck and décolletage. If you want a little extra scent, spray it in your hair and the fragrance will linger as your hair moves.

DC: What notes and fragrances are going to be most popular throughout this season and into next?
RB: We follow trends across all categories very closely and macro trends for fall are focusing on notes from nature, such as honey and rose. But this rose is modernized from traditional roses. For example, Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb Rose Explosion is a rose oriental scent that combines rose and honey!

Calyx, The '80s Cult Scent Is Back

As we float in a sea of fruity florals, it's hard to believe that at one point, the concept of putting guava and grapefruit in a fragrance was practically unheard of. Go back 27 years though, and the most popular scents were thick, rich, spicy concoctions — think Obsession, Poison, Giorgio. The fragrances mirrored the over-the-top fashion of the decade, when a "more is more" mantra reigned. It was the '80s, after all.

Then, in 1986, Sophia Grojsman developed Calyx, a like-nothing-else perfume that shook up the status quo with its lightness and greenery. Calyx delivers a swift rush of citrus at first sniff. The florals that develop afterward are lush, fertile, green, energetic, vivid. (Perfume writer Chandler Burr has gone so far as to call Calyx "viscerally alive.")

Calyx was originally under the Prescriptives umbrella, where it lived until the brand disappeared from counters in 2009. Along with the cosmetics, the fragrance became available only online, where — let's be real — few people were likely to discover it. This month, though, Calyx returns to counters. Now owned by Clinique, it retains the same formula as it did in 1986, and it somehow still stands out from other fruity florals. Everything old is new again, and we couldn't be happier.
Clinique Calyx, $52 to $69, available at Clinique.

Try This Less-Is-More Tomboy Fragrance

If you have a pair of Reva ballet flats and boyfriend jeans in your closet, Tory Burch's expertly marketed and executed label is coming for you again — this time, with its first signature fragrance. In fact, maybe you already own it. Women's Wear Daily reported that the approachable fragrance quickly sold an estimated $45,000–$50,000 in its first day at Bloomingdale's.

And with its pragmatic mix of feminine with a touch of masculine, it's easy to see why the fragrance is unlikely to offend or polarize anyone, pleasant blending citrus florals, undercut with a hint of cedar. Burch told interviewers that the masculine-feminine interplay came from her parents. Her mother Reva's passion for scent was part of Burch's fragrance memory bank, and her father, Buddy, inspired the medium tone of woodsy vetiver. Her family's love of Chippendale (the chairs, not the topless dancers) furniture inspired the beveled fretwork perfume cap, set on top of a rectangular flacon of Burch's signature orange-pink.

Although last week's Fragrant Friday also explored a masculine-feminine scent dynamic (and the two are even produced by the same beauty parent company Estée Lauder), Burch's fragrance doesn't have Tom Ford's dark, sexy, smoky musk. If last week's scent was a mysterious Marlene Dietrich, this week's is a post-GQ, post-baby Jessica Alba, promoting a line of baby goods. This is the scent equivalent of a dress your mom finds for you —  it might not be be quite your style, but you try it on anyway and it looks good, so you keep it around. Because unless you are Marlene Dietrich (or Tom Ford), you can't be her every day.

'The Nose' knows perfumes — and shares his knowledge

It's not every day that one can attend a master class taught by a perfumer so prominent he's known simply as "The Nose.''

"Every day I have to wear a perfume," said Beatrice Schindler of Orlando, a collector of perfumes. "I know a lot of brands, but for a perfumer to explain the process — it's like an artist about to do a painting."

She and about 30 people attended an invitation-only seminar by Parisian Francis Kurkdjian held at the Neiman Marcus at Orlando's Mall at Millenia.

In fact, Kurkdjian's process is like that of many artists. A spark of inspiration soon leads to a product that not only smells good, but more importantly, tells a story, he told the champagne-sipping group. After his lecture, the attendees sniffed individual scents from one of his creations.

Kurkdjian, 44, who started his perfuming career when he was 20 years old, is one of the biggest names in the industry. Having created dozens of best-selling fragrances, including a commission to re-create the favorite perfume of Marie Antoinette, his work has earned him numerous awards and an exclusive partnership with Neiman Marcus.

"I have a nose like everyone here," Kurkdjian said. "There's only one difference: My head is capable of envisioning smells and scents that don't exist."

The master perfumer says that the entire process of creating a new scent takes roughly 18 months from conception to sale and distribution. Kurkdjian rejects the idea that fragrance making is a haphazard process of mixing random scents.

"I create a perfume because I have an idea," he said. "There is real thinking that goes into it and without a story, there is no perfume."

Tyler’s New Favorite Fall Perfume

I often wish I was the type of person with a signature fragrance–I think those people are so sophisticated. But unfortunately, I’m kind of a perfume hoarder.

Perfume is my last step when I get ready, and I like to cycle my fragrances out based on how I feel that day, what the weather is like, where I’m going, things like that. Of course, it goes without saying that I also have to like the way it smells.

Lately I’ve been really into lady-like scents, and Estee Lauder’s new Modern Muse definitely fits the bill. I love the mix of florals with woodier scents for fall, but it’s light enough to wear to work and not fumigate the whole office

Kate Middleton's Wedding Perfume: Royal Scent Now Available Stateside

It's been a few weeks since and fans of Kate Middleton have had the opportunity to swoon over her latest look.
The Duchess of Cambridge may have returned to her royal duties but she's taking things slowly—understandably since she is caring for newborn Prince George.

So in the meantime, we've got an oldie but a goodie for her American fans: Kate's wedding day perfume has finally found it's way across the pond.

Illuminum's White Gardenia Petals is the exact scent that the brunette beauty wore while gliding down the aisle at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, and it's found a home at Henri Bendel in New York City.

Now, keep in mind, smelling like royalty isn't cheap. The fragrance goes for $150 a bottle. But if you are a fan of florals then you won't be disappointed. The perfume is a garden of floral blends such as jasmine, lily of the valley, and yes, gardenia.

And if you are in NYC you can get a whiff of it (and other scents in the brand's line) at the 5th Avenue location.
Outside of the Big Apple? You can score it on henribendel.com.

Win-Win: Anthro's New Scents Are Affordable AND Smell Divine

We love perfume, but part of us wishes it was more democratic. Oftentimes we find a scent we love, only to find out it cost more than our monthly beauty budget. Why can't there be quality scents at an affordable price. Anthropologie to the rescue!

The retailer is releasing a perfume collection, called Eaude, on October 3. The four scents, developed in-house at Anthropologie, will retail for $28 apiece. There's Citrine, a fruity-floral with notes of peach nectar, raspberry, mandarin flower, Egyptian jasmine, rose, and vanilla; Lilas, with notes of liquid amber, cooked plum, and musk; Paeony, a spicy floral with notes of freesia, jasmine, and spiced musk; and Verte, which features bergamot, carrot, magnolia, and fresh mint accords.

Our team is pretty divided on which scent is the best, but at that price, you can afford to snap up more than one. Cough, Citrine, cough.

Anthropologie Eaude Fragrance Collection, $28 each, available October 3 at Anthropologie.

Crabtree & Evelyn Celebrates Forty Years of Fragrance With the Limited Edition Heritage Collection

WOODSTOCK, CT--(Marketwired - October 01, 2013) - Since its inception, Crabtree & Evelyn has been telling stories through scent, not just with the finished perfume, lotion or soap but also with carefully chosen ingredients sourced from around the world.

Founder Cy Harvey's inspiration was 'to explore everything and keep the best'. With this in mind, his fragrance architects set sail on their aromatic adventures to discover such natural treasures as Spanish neroli, Italian bergamot and Sicilian lemon. These superior varieties were then brought back to vast fragrance archives, the legacy of Crabtree & Evelyn. The Heritage Collection is infused with 40 years of expertise in fragrance foraging and draws on the knowledge of where to source the most beautifully scented botanicals. The resulting seven compositions exalt the classic aromas of the Mediterranean coastline and Europe's ancient cities, expressed as exquisite Flower Waters and Eau de Colognes.

Begin a fragrance journey inspired by sun-ripe aromas that transport the senses to distant shores. The eclectic range of emotive scents is redolent of the grandeur of their provenance and rich heritage. Precious, vintage ingredients with a timeless beauty are given the modern Crabtree & Evelyn English touch. Explore elegant, feminine florals and polished citrus scents with a masculine edge, each one destined to become a contemporary collectable.

Sevillian Neroli Eau de Cologne
When Arabian traders settled in Seville they planted bitter orange trees to create perfumed gardens. Today the ancient trees continue to line the streets and courtyards, providing the scented signature of Seville. In the refined scent of Sevillian Neroli, the aroma of Spanish neroli sparkles with notes of grapefruit, lemon, tangerine and white tea, blended with cedarwood and clove.

Old Windsor Eau de Cologne
Set upon the river and surrounded by ancient oak forests, the village of Old Windsor was once the domain of kings and queens. Today this area of natural beauty continues to be a much-loved place for traditional English pursuits. Old Windsor Eau de Cologne exudes English refinement and luxury through notes of bergamot, bitter orange and verbena blended with English lavender and sandalwood.

Hungary Water Eau de Cologne
In the 14th Century, tales were told of a unique scented tonic, presented to Budapest's royalty along with the promise of eternal youth. With strange coincidence they became famed for their youthfulness and beauty, allegedly bestowed by the tonic's rejuvenating scent. Hungary Water continues the legacy, taking influence from the original Crabtree & Evelyn rosemary recipe and blending with uplifting notes of pink pepper, spearmint, cypress and geranium.

Neapolitan Bergamot Eau de Cologne
Bergamot is famous for lending its zesty signature to the very first eau de cologne, inspired by the scented impression of an Italian morning. With the same innovative and romantic spirit, Neapolitan Bergamot is an aromatic rendering of time spent exploring the Mediterranean coast. The classic aroma of Italian bergamot and lemon articulate the rising sun over the bay, while the modern accords of ginger, lavender and thyme are reminiscent of the embracing scent of the coastal breeze.

Florentine Freesia Flower Water
Florentine Freesia is the scented expression of a journey across bridges of gold to the magnificent floral havens surrounding villas and castles from a bygone Renaissance era. The enticing scent of Italian freesia, cyclamen and muguet are blended with orange, pear and amber in this elegant, fruity-floral composition.

Venetian Violet Flower Water
In the historic, floating city of Venice, the violet is as enduring as the opulent architecture. This graceful flower decorates the bridges reaching over the canals and resides in paintings and poetry as a symbol of purity and modesty. Discover a scent that translates the classic elegance of violet with modern, fruity notes of lychee, raspberry and peach.

Old World Jasmine Flower Water
Jasmine, one of the oldest known botanical scents, is native to the temperate regions of the Old World. On arrival in Europe, via the Silk Road, it was quickly adopted and loved for its exotic fragrance. Become enamored again with the unreservedly feminine scent of white jasmine, gardenia and cyclamen blended with a sparkling citrus signature.

The Making of Titan's Skinn

MUMBAI, SEPT. 16:
A 5 a.m. visit to the Malleswaram flower market in Bangalore, a trip to a temple to take in the camphor smells, walking on crowded roads, travel in a city bus, these were all the little things that Titan's Business Head for its new fragrances segment Rajeshwari Srinivasan had the master perfumers from France do during their three-year research in developing perfumes for Titan. “I wanted them to understand the smells of India,” she says.

Senior perfumers from French perfume houses, Olivier Pescheux of Givaudan, which has developed the range of three men's perfumes for Titan, and Luc Berriet of Firmenich, which developed the women's range, said they needed to understand what smells excited Indians. The brand did ethnography studies on Indian men and women as well to understand how they used their perfumes, stored them, and used them for what occasions.

FRAGRANCE STRENGTH

Titan's business head for fragrances says that one of the points made in their brief to the perfumers was that Indians liked their perfumes to last longer, given that the weather in most places is hot and sweaty. While most international brands use around 12 per cent fragrance strength (the rest is alcohol and other stabilisers), Titan's brands use 15 per cent fragrance strength so that the scent lasts longer. Applying the perfume to the warm spots of the body such as the inside of the wrist, behind the ears and on the throat, is what helps the perfume stay through the day, the fragrance changing as well through the day, she points out. The smell ‘trail’ has to remain strong, she says.

Rajeshwari says that the market potential in India is huge, given that there is only 4 per cent penetration of the market against 93 per cent in an almost similar market such as Brazil. Latin America, she says, traditionally uses a lot of perfumes and people across all income spectrums use it. “In fact, in Brazil, when they hug each other when meeting, they actually say, ‘let me smell your smell’,” she explains.

IP RIGHTS

These six perfumes have been developed exclusively for Titan, she says, and the company owns the IP rights for these perfumes. The perfume oils will be made by the perfumers - which Titan will pay for by the kilo - and the blending of alcohol will be done by a partner in France. The bottles, made by Piramal glass in India for Titan, will be sent to France for bottling. So far, for the launch, Titan will distribute one lakh bottles of perfume over 8 months in the market across India.

Chicago's Homegrown Perfume is in Bloom

It's harvest time, which means that pumpkins, squash, and perfume are in season. (Yep, perfume.) Tru Fragrance, the local boutique fragrance development company, is about to release its second crop of homegrown perfume. And this came after a lot of weeding, watering, and waiting for the sun.

In June, the company planted 27 urban gardens with all kinds of sweet-smelling stuff (think roses, lavender, and rose geraniums.) Tended to by farmers and volunteers, the flowers were then harvested, distilled, and bottled, and Tru Blooms Second Harvest Eau de Parfum will hit stores in November. (It would make a nice, hometown pride-y holiday gift, right?)

Two sizes, a 50 ml and a 15 ml, will be available, and prices range from $20 to $42. Want an early floral fix? You can pre-order the fragrance online starting October 14.

WATCH: One Direction's Full 'Our Moment' Ad Is Here!

Ahh, it's Christmas in August! After a few teasers that left us sufficiently teased, the full ad for One Direction's first fragrance, "Our Moment," was released today and boy, oh boy, do we have a lot to discuss.

The video's soundtrack, which in four-second snippets sounded very Christmas-y and Tim Burton-y, is actually "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music because—guess what!—this perfume smells like all of Liam, Louis, Zayn, Niall, and Harry's fave things (minus me, I guess). The video begins with each lad smelling something: Liam has berries, Harry has flowers, Louis has a grapefruit, Niall has a bunch of vials filled with scent samples, and Zayn has white flower petals. While the first part of the video is calm and full of the boys deeply inhaling their favorite smells, the second part gets loco: Harry and Louis dump a bucket of petals on Zayn's head, Harry can't smell his flower because Liam is directing a heavy-duty fan in his direction, Louis squirts the grapefruit into his eye (and then rubs it into his face?), and poor Niall gets tricked into smelling Liam's feet. There's a lot of spinning: chairs, an extremely large grapefruit, bodies - things are chaotic. Good thing all those scents were bottled together, since the boys are having trouble smelling them solo. Finally, they gather 'round as Zayn places the pink bottle on a pedestal, only to have Louis take it and run. Guess Louis' ultimate favorite thing is their perfume? I hope he doesn't spray it on his face and then rub it around like he did with his grapefruit.

One Direction's Perfume: The 5 Sexiest Moments From Their Sultry Advert

1. Zayn gets his flower power on

If those flowers must smell anywhere near as incredible as the gorgeous Zayn Malik looks here blowing them (and kisses) at us , we're on our way to buy a bottle now! Little Mix's Perrie Edwards is one lucky girl.

2. Louis loves his grapefruit

Louis Tomlinson looks like he's definitely enjoying that grapefruit; for something so bitter, Louis somehow makes that grapefuit sexy, we'd eat one any day if they were advertised like that! Phwoar.

3. Harry catches a breeze

With that wind and his hair there isn't a sight more indulgent to the eyes, Harry Styles you are definitely worth it!

4. Liam finds some fruit

A fruit salad ensemble never looked so gorgeously appetising thanks to Liam Payne. Let's hope the one we pick up at the shops looks just as delicious (and comes with Liam too!).

5. Niall smells something sweet

Niall has evidently found something pleasing to the nose as he browses bottles of scents, what a cutie!
