Making Sense of Scents: Fragrance tips for savvy shoppers

The fall-winter season is upon us. The chill in the air signifies that it is time for a change in wardrobe choices. We put away our lightweight linen trousers, tank tops and flip-flops and opt for chunkier sweaters, skinny jeans and boots.

Of course, no outfit is truly complete without its main companion — a great scent.

According to the maven of all things fashionable, Coco Chanel, “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.”

Though this is not a foregone conclusion, why take the chance?
SCENT SELECTION

Visiting a department store’s fragrance counter can be as daunting as climbing Kilimanjaro.
We are faced with images of designer-clad sex-symbols who want us to believe that all need to be like Charlize Theron in a Dior J’Adore ad is a spritz of scented magic. Forget the personal trainer, dieting and team of stylists and makeup artists that help bring this image to fruition.

When Helaine Gottschalk went shopping for a fragrance other than her beloved Eternity by Calvin Klein, she did so by teaming with fragrance experts Amanda Dabney, Lynda Sims and Manisha Argawal at Belk in Cordova Mall.

Gottschalk is a savvy shopper and had an idea of what she was looking for — a fragrance that allowed her to transition from her everyday routine to special events without much fanfare.

“I really don’t give any consideration to time of day, occasion, etc. Probably because I don’t like the heavy, overpowering ‘night time’ fragrances. My choices are lighter ‘go everywhere’ scents,’’ said Gottschalk, a Long Term Care Insurance Specialist.

She also knew that she wanted something that was either, floral, green or “spicy.”

THE NOSE KNOWS

The Sense of Olfactory (smell) is a very powerful one because it can transport one back to a certain time and place and create nostalgia, evoke a specific feeling or conjure a memory.

For Gottschalk, this is especially true.

“I know that I lean toward the floral, green, warm spicy scents because my mother wore that combination,” she says. This combination reminds her of the Shocking, by Schiaparelli, a fragrance her mother favored.

Calyx, The '80s Cult Scent Is Back

As we float in a sea of fruity florals, it's hard to believe that at one point, the concept of putting guava and grapefruit in a fragrance was practically unheard of. Go back 27 years though, and the most popular scents were thick, rich, spicy concoctions — think Obsession, Poison, Giorgio. The fragrances mirrored the over-the-top fashion of the decade, when a "more is more" mantra reigned. It was the '80s, after all.

Then, in 1986, Sophia Grojsman developed Calyx, a like-nothing-else perfume that shook up the status quo with its lightness and greenery. Calyx delivers a swift rush of citrus at first sniff. The florals that develop afterward are lush, fertile, green, energetic, vivid. (Perfume writer Chandler Burr has gone so far as to call Calyx "viscerally alive.")

Calyx was originally under the Prescriptives umbrella, where it lived until the brand disappeared from counters in 2009. Along with the cosmetics, the fragrance became available only online, where — let's be real — few people were likely to discover it. This month, though, Calyx returns to counters. Now owned by Clinique, it retains the same formula as it did in 1986, and it somehow still stands out from other fruity florals. Everything old is new again, and we couldn't be happier.
Clinique Calyx, $52 to $69, available at Clinique.

Make Your Own Cologne

The natural soaps and detergents industry has gotten quite creative in recent years when concocting their fragrances. Grapefruits and sandalwood lend their scents to laundry powders and eucalyptus and tea tree castile soaps have found their way into my shower. I recently came across a new favorite dish soap — lavender bergamot — that, with its decidedly woodsy aroma, turned my mind to men’s cologne. (Find out how to make floral-based perfumes, if that sounds more like you.)

Do men’s fragrances need to be the ultra-bold, musky, often toxic chemical soups found at the department store? With my smell-palette tuned to natural aromas, I was inspired to try concocting my own natural colognes for friends and family using essential oils. (Of course you can make your own laundry soap or dishwashing detergent, but that’s for another day.)

Understand Fragrance Families

Fragrances can be divided into a number of categories or “families.” In order to have success in cologne alchemy, you need to determine which fragrance families are your favorites. Here are the four main families:

Animal musks are often overpoweringly strong and can smell rancid if sniffed on their own. For this reason, they are used in minute amounts in store-bought colognes to impart a “dark note of primitive, exotic mystery,” as M.T. McLeod writes in her article on home perfume making.

Spicy or woodsy smells come from bitter tree and spice sources, such as clove and cinnamon. Oak, cedar, myrrh, and roots and barks lend their aromas to this group. Just a touch of cinnamon packs a big punch to muffins or cereals and it will do the same for colognes.

Herbaceous fragrances smell fresh, green and “foody.” Citrus, lavender, camphor, and eucalyptus are just a few of the herbal scents in this family group and they can add a briskness to your colognes. Many commercial colognes are based on the herb family of scents.

Signature Scents I've Loved Throughout My Life

by Marissa Gold

Scientists believe that our sense of smell is strongly tied to our memory. If you've ever walked past a guy wearing JOOP! and had a sobering flashback to a purposely forgotten high school hook-up, you know this.

And just as your eighth-period crush has since expanded his fragrance roster, so have you, most likely. You probably have at least a few perfumes that you associate with certain times in your life, and smelling any of the above will likely trigger tons of (hopefully positive!) memories. Let's reminisce. Here's a look back at my signature scents at every stage of life—I can't wait to hear yours.

Middle School: Love's Baby Soft
I was strongly influenced by an ad in a teen magazine in which The Hot Guy in a fictional high school proclaims how much he loves his girlfriend's Love's Baby Soft perfume. This smell takes me back to the awkwardness of those early dates that your mom had to drive you to. [Smells like: baby powder]

High School: L'Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse aux Papillons
What 16-year-old spends $100 on perfume? This kid right here. I went shopping armed with birthday money and blew it all on this fragrance because it was so pretty. And pink. And French. In my defense, I still have that same bottle to this day, which is somehow not empty yet and still smells fresh as the day I bought it. Every time I wear it, I flash back to being 16, which is a precious gift for anyone who's hit the big 3-0. [Smells like: pink flowers]

College: Aquolina Pink Sugar
This was probably when my interest in sugary smells began. I sampled this at my local Sephora and then wore it religiously in college. It takes me back to all the fun times in college—and reminds me of a certain roomie who was known to steal a spritz whenever I'd leave the room (you know who you are). [Smells like: sugar + pink pepper]

Post-College: Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot
What club soda is to mixed drinks, this perfume is to my collection. It goes well with everything, so I alternated wearing it alone and wearing it mixed with other stuff I loved to sweeten it up. This one makes me think of all the nights out I had when I first moved into NYC. [Smells like: candied apricots]

Current Favorite: Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
There's a reason this perfume is a best-seller. It's the perfect blend of spicy and sweet, and every guy I know seems to love it. It also smells like a more "grown-up" version of other scents I've worn before. [Smells like: spicy vanilla]

Perfume Portrait at London's Mandarin Oriental

The London based perfume house Ormonde Jayne is now offering a bespoke Perfume Portraits service for clients looking to find a new fragrance within their stores, useful for those too busy to navigate the minefield of perfume counters to find one they feel truly suits them. Then comes the fireworks where you will be making a visit to perfumer Ormonde Jayne’s flagship store on Sloane Square is next for a ‘Perfume Portrait’, smelling single notes to help create your personal scent, which you will take with you in a hand-blown flacon with engraved gold stopper.

The Perfume Portrait starts with a few basic questions on your preferences in a fragrance, taking in to consideration previous bottles you've worn or ones you've encountered on other people and preferred methods of application. Afterwards clients are invited to smell three raw ingredients from seven fragrance families including hesperidic, light floral, intense floral, balsamic, oriental, woody and atmospheric. Whether you’d wear these notes or not isn't important, at this point you just need to specify if you like or dislike each ingredient to build a picture of the notes you find appealing. The whole process takes no more than five minutes.

I know from what I've gathered  I would be partial to the Ormonde Man, a fantastic green and woody fragrance with notes of Vetiver, Juniper, Hemlock and Oudh, and Zizan, a citrus oil and herbal composition with Lime, Bergamot and Bay. For about 120 dollars for the 50 ml.

The Perfume Portrait focuses the mind by allowing you to take in the scents of individual raw ingredients which guide you on a sensual adventure. We have also now added a blindfold, not compulsory but definitely advised, while you smell your way through 21 raw ingredients.

This is what one of their clients had to say:
I walked away with a scent I could call my own and I found myself walking a little taller and more confidently as I stepped out of the shop. I was even pleased at being made to squeeze into the tube as I could tell several individuals around me were taking deep breaths in from their nostrils.

On Women Day Smell Honour Woman by Amouage

Honour for Woman is a white floral fragrance inspired by the tragic predicament of Madame Butterfly. In honour of truth and beauty, her poetic love and sorrow echo eternally. Top notes: Pepper, Rhubarb Leaves, Coriander. Heart notes: Jasmine, Tuberose, Gardenia, Lily of the Valley, Carnation. Base notes: Vetiver, Frankincense, Amber, Opoponax, Leather

Honour Woman was created by Alexandra Carlin and Violaine Collas and lists notes of pepper, rhubarb leaves, coriander, jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley, carnation, vetiver, frankincense, amber, opoponax and leather.

The perfumes are very different except for the white floral heart that combines jasmine and tuberose.  Amouage Honour Woman is a beautiful and surprisingly gossamer-like interpretation of the ultimate feminine white florals. It opens up green and floral and fruity; feminine, happy and quite modern. The husband's impression was short: "fruit". It took me a while to zero in on a layer of fruit jam under a green canopy. Than when I read the official notes that said rhubarb it was a "why, of course" moment. Perfumers Alexandra Carlin and Violaine Collas under the direction of Christopher Chong created what is probably the best rhubarb note and impression available (you wouldn't expect anything less of Amouage, after all). It has the charm to capture the heart of the grumpiest anti fruity-floral sniffers, probably because due to the absence of extra sweeteners, artificial or others.

Honour Woman is astounding for me, because not only is it beautiful, but it surprised me in many ways. I usually find white florals to be loud, overpowering and often screechy, soapy and unsubtle to the max. Judging from that notes list, knowing the maximalist approach of more is more that Amouage is known (and loved, I might add) for, I expected to be hit over the head and kicked in the stomach with a single spray.

The Skinny On Green Irish Tweed By Creed For Men

Green Irish Tweed by Creed is a classic Fougere fragrance. One of the signature scents of the house of Creed, this "walk through the Irish countrywide" is a favorite of many celebrities. The fragrance is rich, fresh, sporty and unforgettable. Like the people of Ireland, there are certain things that they wouldn't forget.

GIT opening is bright - citrusy, green, lush. where terre de hermes channels nature through earthen minerals and leaves, greet Irish tweed channels nature through what i can only describe as fern-like, mossy musk. the drydown comes sooner than i'd like but is equally beautiful, though not as potent. the wafts of mysore, violet, and musk make me feel calm, grounded, but not too serious (if that makes any sense!) the bottle is lovely, however I find the spray itself dispenses more juice than i'd like.

Meet this very fresh scent, good for just out of shower type. I put this on at 6:30 am this morning. It is now 1:30 pm and, after 7 hours, the juice is still going strong. I've read on Basenotes that any lot from 2011 is great. I can only say that this lot is really nice. My comments are completely unsolicited. This is hands down an amazing fragrance. The sillage on this juice is amazing, I can smell it from downstairs when he sprays it upstairs. It is definitely pricey but worth every penny. The package is elegant and it makes you feel like a million bucks. If you want to attract the ladies fellas then I highly recommend Creed Green Irish Tweed.

For the person saying that unless you buy from an authorized Creed retailer then it's fake doesn't have a clue. There are a lot of online retailers that sell genuine Creeds. Creed doesn't want to get rid of these fakes, because it benefits them by making people become paranoid and making statement.  I still own a 4 year old bottle of Creed Silver Mountain Water that smells exactly the same as when I bought it. Creeds don't age faster and have the same shelf life as any other fragrance. They need to make money in the secondary market and this is where Creeds that are sometimes only a year old go to.

Of course Creeds not going to endorse them because they're not authorized Creed dealers which probably costs a fortune. Same can be said about a Rolex or any other high end product. Bottom line is that your not going to get any Creed fragrance for $10 an oz (Ebay). If you would happen to get a fake they is all kinds of information on the internet to see if it's real. Just don't be paranoid and think you have to pay retail prices for something that's sold to the mass market. Common sense people.

Alora Introduces TSA Approved Refillable Roller Ball Scents

"We've wanted to do a perfume oil for so long," Annie said of the collection they named after their mother

Alora is a popular home fragrance line started by two sisters. They wanted a decor-friendly scent diffusers. They have been endorsed by many fashion and style magazines and the buzz about their lines seems to be never ending. And they are back with a new concept:

A dark and cylindrical canister looks like something you will see in the spy museum from the cold war era. But it's their latest innovation a refillable perfume oil roller ball case for Terveer, the latest scent project from sisters Annie and Therese Gibbons, who made a name for themselves as the founders of Alora.

Mary Terveer. "It's so much more personal than a spray of perfume." On your first purchase, you'll get a roller ball vial of fragrance packaged with an "alum," their version of a refillable perfume bottle. These vials come in two clors metal-and-navy vials and they do not have issues with the TSA. I had perfume tossed in the airport. They are also sturdy and do not mind being get tossed in your bag, and unless you misplace yours, you won't have to buy another alum again. I consider myself an appreciator of roller ball, my mom and all my five sisters swear by them and now they have one more reason to use them.

There are three scents to choose from, each inspired by the sisters' memories. Incense, which conjures up their childhood years spent catherdral-snooping in Italy, is comprised of sweet bergamot, burnt firewood, black patchouli, and musk. The notes in Green (fresh ivy, sweet pink pepper, fig wood, vetiver, wet oakmoss) take them back to their family's home in southern Minnesota. And the third scent is Gardenia, one that the sisters always wanted to make for their home-fragrance line but couldn't due to budget constraints. "I wanted to capture true, Hawaiian gardenias, like the kinds I grow in my own yard," Annie says. "So I mailed boxes of them to and he matched it."

I think this is a unique gift for those who have many options, this is one way to tell them you are a gifted shopper whose sense of style can never grow old.

"Ivanka Trump" The Perfume Hits The Stores At Macy's

Ivanka Trump stopped by the Macy’s Herald Square to officially launch her debut fragrance, called Ivanka Trump. The appearance, held in the department store's newly opened second floor HSQ Cafe, generated $15,000 in fragrance sales, according to insiders. Shoppers who purchased the eau de parfum licensed by Parlux Fragrances Inc., for $78 pop, were gifted an additional travel-size bottle, a limited-edition tote bag and the opportunity to take photos with Ivanka and sit in on a Q&A. This is her first fragrance and as we have learned it was created by perfumers Jennifer Mullarkey – who developed fragrances for Parlux and Marypierre Julien – who composes fragrances for the house of Givaudan.

As for the product, it's a floral-oriental composition has a touch of luminous fruity notes and flirtatious spices making the whole fragrant story even more exciting. Top notes incorporate luminous Italian bergamot, juicy apple and pink pepper, which highlight sensuality.

You will be able to smell the jasmine, rose, peach blossom, amber, creamy vanilla, patchouli and cedar. The heart encompasses jasmine, rose and peach, while the base closes with golden amber, creamy vanilla, patchouli and cedar.

“I think with fragrance you have to make sure it very closely matches the personality of the wearer,” said Trump, who was back to blonde after experimenting with a brunette look for about a month. “I start with myself in terms of what I want to wear and how I live and really that means something that has a strength paired with femininity.

Ivanka has a line of shoes, coats, clothing, fragrance, sunglasses, and handbags. So this is part of a long-term business venture Ivanka Trump is building. I sure want to sample this new scent.

India Cricket Captain Launches New Perfume

Why not, they have Bollywood  that can make some of the most movies, shooting a perfume commercial would be like walking in the park. Plus, the hot weather and the spices make India a perfect market. Keep on mind India is a rich land where many fragrances were born first--thanks to the spice, essential oils, and colors.

One can hit a maximum of six runs on a ball in cricket. But it was “7 by MS Dhoni” – the Indian cricket captain in Dubai last week - off-the-field.

The Indian captain was in Dubai last week to launch a new fragrance for men. The fragrance has been named after his lucky jersey number “7". Dhoni said: “Perfumes, much like cricket, are a product of passion. "I have been passionate about perfumes and with the launch of‘’7 by MS Dhoni’ my focus has been to share my personal preferences when it comes to perfumes.

The process of creating a brand is far more challenging than endorsing one. I put in tremendous time and effort for my inaugural line of perfumes.” he said. For “7 by MS Dhoni”, the cricketer said he has been personally involved in the development of the fragrances, with several new lines to be rolled out in the coming months. The inaugural line of fragrances by “Captain Cool,” includes six body sprays for men, with several new products for men and women to be introduced shortly.

Fresh, long-lasting and with a global appeal, the new line has been created through careful research by renowned international perfumers. "Working closely with them was a true learning experience for me too and I look forward to creating innovative new lines under the ‘7 by MS Dhoni’ brand,” he said. Dhoni is reportedly one of the richest players in India – endorsing a number of brands.

Dhoni’s new perfume range will be available in UAE, India and other parts of the world through a network of franchises soon. The good news as India gets richer, people can spend more on things like cologne and beauty products.

How Does Kiss Him The Cologne Smell?

KISS is one of the post popular rock bands, having said that their fans tend to be older. Kiss serves as a constant reminder of the glory days of Rock and Roll days. Gene Simmons will market anything! As a Kiss fan I was weary about this product and with good reason. Glam rockers KISS took the cosmetics world by storm with the launch of their own range of cologne. The band has previously sold a colossal range of merchandise, including everything from glassware and lunchboxes, to hats and coffins.

Most reviews have this to say, it is a very soapy, masculine kind of scent, but a big bottle for the price. It is not a "Cheap" smell as I would have thought, and is a very pleasant scent all around. I would recommend to anyone looking to add to their collection. While puke/sweat and bear are the right smell for an average KISS concert, things are different when it comes to their perfume.

I find the fragrance Spicy and warm, KISS Him is a modern oriental fusion that contains hints of bergamot, white pepper, anise, black cumin, sandalwood, tonka, moss, and honeyed amber crystals. An extra dash of pheromone helps to heighten the scent’s irresistible magnetism. It has been described as walking the fine line of being  sexy, with a dash of naughty."

However, it's a novelty for the band loyalists, as a perfume it's worth about ten bucks, but the logo and the statements it makes is priceless. The fragrance hit me strong at first and then slowly settled down

It's a nice gift for the KISS fan in your life! Kiss ordinary smell goodbye.

Tom Ford Exclusive Scent For the Middle East

Arabs and Muslims may have perfected the art of perfume making (more on this later), but this time Tom Ford is giving them something created in their very own lab. A new fragrance will only be available in the Middle East. I am certain this is one product geared toward the affluent communities in the Gulf region.

Tom Ford has gone on an adventure in the near East with his new frankincense-based scent called Sahara Noir, using the history and culture of the region to build an impressive new scent specially designed for the Middle East. Sahara Noir is packaged in a gold-coloured version of the Tom Ford signature fragrance bottle, made of metallised glass and finished with a golden name plaque. The flacon is packaged in a gold, fluted outer carton. The perfume will come in a 50 ml size. There is no word yet on its price.

"Middle Eastern culture has an extraordinary appreciation for the luxurious, emotional and memorable qualities of fragrance; perfume is worn there in a way that feels very familiar to me. Sahara Noir is my interpretation of this heritage," said Tom Ford.

This Oriental Floral fragrance for women opens with bitter orange, sweet oasis grasses and Levantine cypress. The heart is composed of frankincense that is offset with cinnamon, Egyptian jamine and Moroccan rose. In sum, most Arabic regions are incorporated in this new scent. Sahara Noir finishes with cedar and vanilla tones. "It is a deep and substantial perfume that caresses the senses," adds Ford. Presented in a gold version of the classic Tom Ford fragrance bottle, the perfume is packaged in a fluted gold box. Prices are not yet available.

5 Fragrances That Make Guys Drool

They like candy, baked goods and fresh fruits. Thanks to the The Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, now we have an idea of what total suckers guys are for these five key scents. Remember  if you can bake it or eat it for breakfast, guys are into that.

1. The Scent: VANILLA. It's long been believed that vanilla is a natural aphrodisiac: as early as the 1700s, physicians recommended it to male patients to ensure potency. And the guys at AskMen.com say the sweet, welcoming odor has a euphoric effect that sets the sensual mood.
The Perfume Doctor: SHALIMAR BY GUERLAIN. This powdery vanilla scent is sexy and all woman, not candy-sweet. Inspired by the love of an Indian Emperor for his wife (for whom the Taj Mahal was built), this delicious fragrance starts fresh and light, with lemon and bergamot, and reveals itself to be sensual and soft, with base notes of vanilla and incense.
2. The Scent: DOUGHNUT & BLACK LICORICE. This sweet combination increased arousal in more than 30 percent of men studied by the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation. We don't blame them: we have a complicated relationship with Krispy Kreme too.
The Perfume Doctor: DEMETER FRAGRANCE LIBRARY'S LICORICE. This library of singular scents (everything from fresh laundry to Hello Kitty-inspired fragrances) has something for everyone, including your guy. Not sure you want to douse yourself in licorice? Lather up with the licorice bath & shower gel, or add a few drops of the ANGEL FOOD bath oil to your next bubble bath. Combined with your favorite perfume, the subtle smell will drive him crazy.
3. The Scent: PUMPKIN PIE. The scent of pumpkin pie (especially when combined with the smell of lavender) increased arousal in 40 percent of men.  The Foundation theorized that the men in their study may have reacted to the vanilla and cinnamon in the pumpkin pie, both of which have been claimed to have aphrodisiac qualities.
The Perfume Doctor: Lather up with BATH & BODY WORKS SWEET CINNAMON PUMPKIN. This sweet and spicy collection includes shower gel, body lotion and a body splash, and combines pumpkin and cinnamon with apple, cranberry and clove, for a subtle, light scent that's sexy, not Thanksgiving. 4 Sexy Date Night Perfumes
4. The Scent: ORANGE. The citrus smell produced an arousal reaction in almost 20 percent of men.
The Perfume Doctor: BOSS ORANGE. This scent from Hugo Boss, presented by It girl Sienna Miller, will have his senses tingling, with top notes of sweet apple and soft florals that give way to orange blossom. The base includes sandalwood, olive wood and creamy vanilla, another male favorite.
5. The Scent: LILY OF THE VALLEY. Finally, the guys responded to a scent that doesn't come from the kitchen. The delicate white flower gives off a light, subtle scent that men love: in this study, it heightened arousal in 11 percent of men.
The Perfume Do: The perfect scent for a summer fling, ETERNITY SUMMER BY CALVIN KLEIN is a watery floral scent that's cool and fresh. Lily of the Valley combines with Pink peony and freesia for a subtle floral he won't be able to resist. Creamy musk and white amber lend some sex appeal to the scent, and grapefruit and ginger keep it fresh, not overwhelming.

Banning Allergy Causing Perfume And Job Interviews

The Europeans have so many things right, and many others wrong. But I am linking what the EU's
scientific committee recommendation to restrict the use of more than 100 perfume ingredients that can potentially cause people to have an allergic reaction. There is a list of perfume ingredients (about a hundred) that can potentially cause people to have an allergic reaction. That's why they tell you not to go to a job interview wearing fragrance.

The committee has even gone further and recommended an complete ban on tree moss and oak moss, an ingredient in the popular French perfume Chanel No. 5, you know the one many celebrities and fashion-minded folks adore so very much.

This is early  but the proposals are being made by the EU's scientific committee on consumer safety which is made up over a dozen experts tasked, with among other things, bringing forward opinions on the health and safety risks of ingredients found in cosmetic products. I admire them for their diligent, but I doubt they have put control over some of those mega beauty companies who call Europe home.

According to Stephen Weller, a spokesperson for the International Fragrance Association, told CBC News that if adopted, the changes could affect almost all of the world’s 9,000 perfume products. That means your favorite scent might be banned or weakened as a result of those regulations. But the good news, people around you may have lesser of an allergic reaction.

"It would have a serious impact on fine fragrance in particular, but almost across the board almost every formula would have to be reformulated," Weller said.

Thanks To Pizza Hut I Can Smell Like Freshly Baked Pizza

The good people of Canada have done it again, this time they want their American peers to smell the good stuff. Pizza Hut is a good pizza chain--it's OK  Pizza Hut has made good on its promise to bottle the scent of freshly baked pizza dough and herbs with a limited-edition Eau de Pizza Hut perfume. So the guys, the kids and some women have loved the smell of pizza for such a long time, that a team of researchers in Canada made that world famous scent available to the masses.

I like pizza, I am just not sure if people want to smell me like I smell pizza. If you want that scent  you need to work at a pizza, then you get that aroma and scent for next to nothing. The idea of the fragrance started as a joke, but then the fans wanted it for real. The buzz that this story generated was enough for the Pizza Hut to carry through its promise and deliver a product.

The result? A scent that smells of freshly baked pizza dough and pizza seasonings. No, you could not buy it, but you have to help promote Pizza Hut online and if they like you, you will get one. About two hundred people were lucky enough to walk around smelling like fresh pizza.

This is a creative idea the marketing people have made happen. With the new perfume, the term spicy takes a whole new meaning.

Zirh Ikon: Vanity Shouldn't Cost A Fortune

2008 was a terrible year for most of us, but for those who like great cologne, it was a happy year since Zirh Ikon was launched. It's my favorite cologne, I got it once as a gift and have never really found anything that I like as much as this. I am a little bias, as I own almost all of "ZIRH's" cologna. I really do love them all. IKON is good.

Zirh Ikon is basically a fragrance of incense and wood dried in my opinion represents a virile and macho style where not everyone can use it in this list of notes saying that the iris and amber, but can not detect these notes. It comes with a decent longevity. Zirh Ikon has a cool name and feels very linear in my skin does not undergo major changes.

Finally a great option if you do not want to spend a lot and get a quality fragrance and very masculine... and you will be smelling like you just took a walk in one of those world famous Marrakesh Markets. Enjoy the perfect fusion of flowers, spices and wine with some darker notes lurking underneath. The longevity is decent. The spicy juice is just great for a cold weather scent, and something different.

Finally a great option if you do not want to spend a lot and get a quality fragrance and very masculine. If compliments your measurement of a goof scent, then get used to them with Zirh. Just do not over do it if the weather is too hot outside.
