Buy This! The Holy Water Perfume Smells Heavenly

To keep the papal joy flowing after the announcement of a new Pope on Wednesday, the fragrance company Demeter has reintroduced their Holy Water perfume. This is not a new product, it's just getting extra attention due to the joy of the new Pope in town.

The company is known for imaginative scents both pleasant (sea air, clean linen and apple pie) and dodgy (thunderstorms and Zombies). The fragrance, meant with no disrespect to the real thing, is good, clean fun, meant to evoke happy memories of the particular olfactory cues of churches. The company has been busy getting in the news--let's hope their sales match the online buzz they have been getting.

As for the fragrance, it's perfumed myrrh and a watery sense of maybe lilies, like a floral incense. It's okay, though doesn't resemble holy water in any way. Rather a nice light fragrance for day wear, with the usual caveat that the Demeter scents seldom last long or have much sillage.

This one is indeed heartwarming, and bang on: it smells like you have just walked in to an ancient chapel in the south of France, complete with polished wood and sun-warmed porcelain. This is a light, calming scent, equally nice to spritz on your wrist or in your own entry hall to help the peace be with you. But It Here
