When we think of Cheryl Cole, we imagine her smelling like a mixture of jelly tots and flowers.
And according to her pal Alesha Dixon, she smells really very scrummy.
"Cheryl is the best smelling celebrity I know," she told The Sun.
“When we climbed Kilimanjaro she always had a bottle of Paris Hilton’s stuff... she probably wouldn’t want me revealing that, actually!”

21 Uses Of Fragrance Oils

Just as there are countless number of perfumes and colognes, there are as many fragrance/scented oils. From the designer Chanel No.5 to Armani Code, to all sorts of DKNY fragrances among others which are a mixture of several fragrances, to the single regular everyday scents like Jasmine, Vanilla, Lavender, Baby Powder, Honey suckle, Lemon, Orange, Rose etc there are myriad scents all over.

But what to do with all these oils? There are quite a number of uses:

5. Use some on your skin as perfume.

6. Add a drop on your cold light bulb to scent a room.

7. Add a few drops of lavender oil in your bath water for a fresh just showered smell.

8. Add some to a gift package bow, to give the gift an extra personal touch.

Fragrance Notes: There’s Nothing Vanilla About Vanilla Perfume

Vanilla is one of those scents that will always remind me of sugary body sprays and rollerball lip glosses—saccharine, juvenile, and boring. Since the moment I decided I was mature enough to wear an “adult” fragrance (circa tenth grade), I’ve avoided vanilla entirely. But when a goodie bag full of new perfumes arrived at my desk from MiN New York, guess what my three favorites all had in common? Yup, vanilla.

I would now like to take a moment to formally retract my sentiments about the gourmand note. Not only can it be complex and sophisticated, but also totally notsweet. Here, the three bottles that proved me wrong:

Fusion Sacree for Her by Majda Bekkali Sculptures Olfactives (left, above). This warm, amber-y Oriental easily could have been cloyingly rich or heavy, but notes such as coriander and black currant cut it with a fresh spiciness. And if one spritz makes you think of “Jingle Bells,” it’s probably the combination of clove, fir, and cedar. Wearing it smells like you’ve been wrapped up in a fluffy blanket while toasting chestnuts by a fire amidst a snowy pine forest. OK, maybe not quite. But it’s still definitely my new scent this holiday season.

Coccobello by James Heeley (center). I know what you’re thinking: Am I going to smell like sunscreen? Yes, you are, in the best way possible. The coconut is polished and nuanced—you won't smell like Malibu rum. Gardenia makes it refined and expensive, salt gives it a little edge, and a woody base keeps it from being too sweet.

Salina by Laboratorio Olfattivo (right). Sexy. Raw. Those are honestly the only two words I can think of when I smell this fragrance. Not to sound all lyrical, but it’s almost like the scent of skin that’s been out in the cold. I don’t know how lemon, sand, vanilla, white musk, and a few other notes combine to create such an intense, animalistic blend, but it is intoxicating and very on-the-prowl.

Greg Lauren on His Foray Into Fragrance

With his fifth ready-to-wear collection behind him, the 43-year-old L.A. artist-turned-designer Greg Lauren will make his fragrance industry debut on Tuesday, when his namesake unisex fragrance hits shelves at the Barneys New York flagship on Madison Avenue. “I thought this would have the same emotional themes that I’d want to express in my collection, which never feels like a fragment is made for men and another for women,” said Lauren, a nephew of Ralph Lauren. The exclusive scent is the second in the luxury department store’s designer fragrance collection, which started in 2012 with a L’Wren Scott creation. Made by the New York perfumer Ralf Schwieger, whose work includes Lipstick Rose by Frédéric Malle and Eau des Merveilles by Hermès, the blend’s sweet aroma is built around tonka beans, vanilla and coconut, offset by a musky veil of sandalwood, amber and moss.

“In working directly with an artist, it is up to me to translate his ideas and emotions into a scent,” said Schwieger, who used a visit to Lauren’s showroom as a jumping-off point for the fragrance. “Once I have a feel for the scent and the basic structure is in place, I have to fine-tune it, like working on a sculpture.” And the final product is a work of art, literally: Lauren decorated each bottle so that no two are the same. Here, he reflects on what he learned from the process, his favorite ingredients and whether he plans to expand his new footing in the beauty industry.

What was your first experience with fragrance?
It was absolutely Ralph Lauren Polo. That was the first time I was exposed to the power of something. The imagery is so iconic and so classic. It’s one of the greatest smells out there. I later used my wife’s perfume Comptoir Sud Pacifique in the Vanille Abricot or Vanille Extreme scents, which she has been wearing for 15 years. Right now, I’m going through the Greg Lauren for Barneys New York prototype tester bottles. It’s funny, I’ll think: “Yeah, this one had too much pear, but I’m gonna go with it.”

She's Back! Kim Kardashian’s Pure Honey Fragrance Ad Revealed

After a nice summer-long hiatus from the spotlight following the birth of her daughter, North, Kim Kardashian is slinking back into the spotlight, starting with an Oprah, Kanye and Diddy sighting, and moving swiftly into the release of her new fragrance, Pure Honey. Kim released the first ad for her new perfume, and while it is a maternal departure from her sexy ads of the past, her contoured cheek bones still showed up for the party. Kim explained the fragrance saying:

Kim describes the new fragrance on her blog. She says:
“I wanted Pure Honey to be both light and sweet but also powerfully seductive. As women we all have these dual natures. We can be girly and playful but also tempting and captivating at the same time. Combining the two elements was the perfect way to capture our full femininity. I created it to be delectable and craveable, like all beautiful women are.”
The yet-to-be released perfume is said to be a sweet blend of red rose, freesia, coconut, vanilla, and of course, honey.

What the Smurf? There is now a Smurfing Smurf perfume

"What's that wonderful smell?" someone will ask you about your new perfume, Smurfette Blue Magic. "It's Smurf perfume," you'll mumble, wishing a hole would open up beneath you. "Excuse me?" they'll press. "It's my SMURF PERFUME, inspired by 'Smurfs 2' — you know, the children's movie with the posters with the pale-looking Smurfs on them?" It will get very quiet. In the silence, the blossoming aroma of oriental mandarin, pink pepper, patchouli and hyacinths will become almost unbearably sweet. "Is it a … children's perfume?" the bewildered person will ask. "They do make a children's Smurf perfume, called Blue Style, but this scent is for grown-ups," you'll reply. A pause. "Oh. Well, where did you get it?" As you flee the room, you will cry out, "Toys 'R' Us!"

Don't worry, if you're over 10 years old, there's a fragrance for you, too: Smurfette Blue Magic, "billed as a more high-end scent targeting women between the ages of 13 and 30." The bottle looks like a sex toy and the liquid inside smells like "oriental mandarin, pink pepper, red raspberry and peach blossom" with bottom notes of "wet leafy greens, hyacinth and transparent lilac, sheer amber, patchouli and bright wood."

Name That Scent: Minajesty By Nicki Minaj Smells Like Pie + Money

What Nicki Minaj thinks it smells like: “#Minajesty smells like a passionate love affair. Mysterious and sexy. An unforgettable and hypnotizing scent.”

What we think it smells like:

  • “Some sort of tropical fruit, like a jackfruit almost.”
  • “Vanilla, but also something toxic.”
  • “Sorbet, but an expensive one you get from a nice bodega. A mixed berry ginger peach.”
  • “A really fruity apertif.”
  • “Really sugary. Really sweet.”
  • “Brown sugar. Like a ’50s housewife who’s making a pie.”
  • “A little kid’s hand, but a sticky child who I don’t want to touch me. And like the ball pit of a Chuck E. Cheese.”
  • “Money.”
  • “Vanilla and blueberry.”
  • “Like someone opened a laundromat next to a flower shop.”
  • “Definitely floral and kind of sweet. Like the type of flower that’s used in baking. Not baking flour but like those macaron flowers.”
  • “Like in middle school when a bunch of girls would take out their perfumes and spray them around.”
  • “Jennifer Love Hewitt.”
  • “Philadelphia.”
  • “Like they made an alcoholic drink out of Cinnabon.”
  • “A Pier 1 store. Capable, intelligent.”

Nicki Minaj Shares The First Ad For Her New Perfume, Minajesty, On Instagram

Attention all Barbz: Nicki Minaj's first ad for her new fragrance, Minajesty, is hurr. The rapper continued her streak of keeping her Barbz and Kenz in the loop and shared the ad on her Instagram. We got a sneak peek of the campaign a few weeks ago when Minaj posted behind-the-scenes images to Instagram, but now, we can ogle the finished ad. In it, Minaj stands in that pink taffeta dress we saw from the preview, in front of a throne, in the woods, arms outstretched. Her hair is huuuge, like, several Bumpits high, and blonde, with pink accents—the inch of brown roots she's been rockin' recently, though, is MIA.

Her jewelry is layered—diamond chains on chains #swag—topped off with a double-layered diamond tiara headband. Very regal, but not very woodsy. Maybe the fragrance has some tree and grass notes? Why is she in the woods and not a castle, JW? Maybe we'll find out, or maybe Minaj finds the woods "mysterious and sexy," like she finds the scent of Minajesty. The bottle, as we've spied, is a glass bust with bright pink hair. It hits stores September 15th, and you can see more at Nickiminajminajesty.com (try saying that five times fast, LOL JK YOU CAN'T!).

Shawn Rae's ONENESS Perfume: Bring Out The Nobility In You

Summertime is a time when the heat of the summer sun reminds us that we want to look and smell our best. This year’s heat wave has inspired us to offer no charge for shipping to all our customers to help them smell their best at this time of year. Enjoy the fragrance and the smiles that Oneness will bring when your friends remark about how wonderful you smell. Think Noble, Feel Noble, Be Noble!

Oneness is a dynamic nexus of East and West. It exists in a combination of Occidental and Oriental ingredients united together in perfect and harmonious oneness. Infused in this eclectic selection of exotic flowers and plants is a touch of pure golden Sunflowers and a delicious hint of Allspice Berries that grow wild in the rainforests. The crown of this precious jewel is an unfolding of sweet Iris and soft Amber Crystals.

At its heart, ready to impassion and awaken the soul, lies an aromatic blend of rich Egyptian Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose, and the generous warmth of Incense. The drydown is influenced still, by the exotic addition of East Indian Sandalwood from the mystical Orient, along with Vetiver, Oakmoss, and White Musk, thus creating altogether a completely sensational and inspirational experience.

Fancy Perfume: Olfactive Studio Chambré Noir perfume

Olfactive Studio Chambré Noir perfume. I fell in love with a sample of this Schinus- jasmine-papyrus-violet-incense-prune-sandalwood-patchouli-musk-vanilla-leather concoction before discovering it’s sold at Forty Five Ten. A good perfume is the ultimate luxury.

This is a sensual and mysterious fragrance, Chambre Noire reveals itself from the shadows using the spotlight of the vibrant top note. A fragrance to be shared in the privacy of some far-off hotel room. It reveals its character gradually, exuding sensual notes of leather against a backdrop of warmth and opulence.

Perfume is in the air: Lovely lilacs linger on the senses

When it comes to selecting shrubbery that smells good, it’s hard to beat the scent of a lilac bush. They don’t all have a strong fragrance, but those that do can perfume an entire house.

Unfortunately, the blooming season is only a couple of weeks long. It varies between midspring to early summer, depending on the species. Or you can buy an early, mid- and late-blooming variety and cut flowers for more than a month. The good news: Lilacs like colder weather and do well in New Jersey.

Some of the most interesting work with hybridizing lilacs today is being done by Russians in Siberia, said Anne Haines, a manager at Rare Find Nursery in Jackson.

“Lilacs are really native to colder areas, and New Jersey is on the lower edge of that area,” said Haines, whose email address includes the word Syringa, the Latin name for lilac. “Syringa vulgaris (si-RING-ga vul-GAY-ris), or common lilac, is what breeders work with when creating hybrids, and some are now working on lilacs for warmer areas.”

Lilacs don’t much like it below the Mason-Dixon line, where they are more susceptible to disease and insects. The most common problem here is powdery mildew, which doesn’t look great but won’t hurt the shrub.

Barbara Bromley, a horticulturist with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, said one of the most important things to consider when planting a lilac is how many hours of sun it gets and the surrounding landscape. Some gardeners will plant them as stand-alone specimens or as a hedge.

“They will not bloom in partial shade,” she said, recommending full sun for the best success, but no less than six hours. “Remember, those 10-foot-tall trees planted near the lilacs will be 30 feet tall 20 years later.”

New Bond No. 9 The Sweet Fragrance

For a while now, Bond No. 9 has looked to New York's park system for its distinctive line of fragrances. Its Fifth Avenue scent celebrated Central Park's eastern edge while the Central Park West fragrance evoked images of the west side of the mammoth park.

Now, the fragrance maker has introduced Central Park South, the third of Bond's No. 9 Central Park series. The new fragrance, which combines grapefruit flower with a hint of green ivy, jasmine, and vibrant jonquil to create a scent that is reminiscent of early spring bloom in Central Park, recently debuted at Saks Fifth AvenueHouston.

The brand's owner, Laurice Rahme, told the Wall Street Journal she has 58 scents for different neighborhoods in the city. While some Central Park observers associate the area with horse manure, Rahme said she comes up with fragrances from the symbolic feelings she gets in the neighborhoods she loves.

"Forget the horses," Rahme said. "It's very grand."

Marc Jacobs' New Fragrance Guarantees A Buzz

Not like you'd ever get tired of Dot, but Marc Jacobs' iconic fragrance just a whole new smell — and a look to match. The New York City-based luxury label Marc Jacobs is going to launch a fresh new scent this August, Honey.  The adorable bottle that's earned a permanent place in our hearts is going yellow for Marc Jacobs' new fragrance, Honey. With notes of pear, fruit punch, and mandarin, this is a dream for anyone with a sweet tooth.

The multi-layered scent profile also includes golden vanilla, honeysuckle, and orange blossom. The one drawback? You'll have to wait until August to pick it up, just before the launch of MJ's new cosmetics collection with Sephora. We're as upset as you are — this feels like a perfect summer fragrance, right?

The parfume will appear in 30, 50 and 100 ml sprays as well as a shower gel and body lotion. Honey will come in a re-imagined bee-covered version of the Dot bottle, and there's no official word on the campaign yet

Smelling Fifth Avenue By Elizabeth Arden For Women, Variety Set

Fifth Avenue By Elizabeth Arden For Women, Variety Set is something of a higher end brand. Nice fresh scent, great packaging. Fifth Avenue is a wonderful fragrance. Anything of complex but a linear and elegant fragrance built around Lily of the valley and lilac. Fresh, clean, unoffensive, weareable in any occasion, best during the day because of its simpleness. I adore lily of the valley and I was looking for a floral fragrance like that.Very relaxing, like a walk in a garden full of flowers. I don't find it so oriental but more floral. This smells really good on me. Men compliment me when I wear this fragrance. I just wish she offered body powder!

This scent is a hidden gem. Just a classy, non complicated straight up floral. Very clean smelling, yet not in a bar of soap way. It is absolutely the perfect choice for everyday wear when you don't really want to have to think about what you are wearing or where you are going. It is a great opener to Springtime, yet also refreshing in cooler months.

The street after which the fragrance took its name is a world-famous street; it is a symbol of wealth, imagination that has turned into reality. This is a fragrance for a woman who possesses a sense of style, a woman which is intelligent, successful, elegant, and easily walks between luxurious showcases, feeling good in her own skin. T

Reviewing The Estee Lauder Mini Bottles Perfume Set

Cannot make up your mind on what perfume to get? Not sure if the person you want to give a perfume to as a gift likes a certain fragrance? No need to panic, go with the set. This gift set includes 5 of your favorite Estee Lauder Fragrances: Beautiful Love EDP 4.7ml, Beyond Paradise EDP 4ml, Sensuous EDP 4ml, Pure White Linen EDP 4ml, Pleasures EDP 4ml Fragrances include notes of fresh cut flowers rose jasmine and carnation. With fruity notes of citrus melon peach and plum; citrus and florals with lower notes of sweet woods and vanilla; fresh florals including jasmine rose berry moss and amber

I pretty much only purchase Estee Lauder perfumes and I tell anyone that will buy perfume for me as a gift that this is all I wear. I purchased this product on a flight to the Caribbean a few years ago. I love Estee Lauder so this was perfect for me. I travel quite a bit for pleasure and I always like to smell nice when I get where I am going. Since you cannot take anything over 3 oz. on a flight for carryon, this is the perfect size for traveling.

For those who  love to experiment with perfumes, and this great collection of Estee Lauder mini bottles has scents you may have used or samples before and longed to use again. You get to try them all including Pleasures before, and now that I've actually worn it for a few days, it's become a new favorite that I'll certainly purchase for myself.

This is an amazing find. My wife loves Estee Lauder and especially loves the mini collections. To find this set was a stroke of luck. It was in great condition. The package wasn't even open and the seller was very prompt with mailing it. It will be the perfect Christmas gift.

On the plus side, the TSA won't throw those away from your carry on. The bottles are a little smaller than they appear online, but this is a good bargain for the price. I like having a variety of scents to wear from day to day, and this makes that possible w/o having to purchase bigger bottle of each scent.

Kim Kardashian "Pure Honey" Will Make 5 Millions

Love her or hate her, everything Kim Kardashian touches usually turns to gold across the globe too. The Kardashian empire expands even further to include Kim’s new ‘Honey’ Perfume–Get all the details on her sixth fragrance launch, ‘Pure Honey,’ here Kim Kardashian, 32, is all set to launch her next perfume: a sweet and feminine honey-scented eau de parfum this year.

Though Kim Kardashian is currently promoting her True Reflection perfume, the star has revealed that she's already created yet another new fragrance set to hit the shelves in September. This is her sixth fragrance (Pure Honey, True Reflection, Glam, Gold, Love and the signature Kim Kardashian fragrance) and will land in early fall, this scent marks a completely new direction for her fragrance collection.

To keep her massive fragrance collection from feeling repetitive, Kim is introducing a sweet honey scent to her woodsier, floral collection. ”This one to me represents pure femininity; it’s really warm and inviting,” she said as she described the scent to WWD. Made with raw wild honeycomb and rose petals, Kim’s latest eau de parfum will definitely be a distinct part of her line.

“I am super involved from start to finish — on bottle design to ad campaign. I had this really great honey idea, so we moved away from just florals,” she told the site. She was also very involved in putting her signature spin on the bottle’s design. Kim’s relationship with fragrance is long standing: she even picks up unique scents and artistic bottles from her extensive world travels.

That worldly inspiration is echoed in the look of her liquid gold perfume.“I wanted to make sure that it had the little bee on it,” she said. The tiny bee is definitely an adorable addition to the chic glass bottle. “Pure Honey” serves as a departure from Kim’s previous perfumes, which all included white floral ingredients. I love hoe she picks different stores for each of her fragrance, this makes sure she reaches more audience and different demographics.

Selling between $55 (50-ml) and $68 (100-ml) a bottle at Lord & Taylor and Belk, it is predicted that “Pure Honey” will generate $5 million in retail sales during its first five months globally. Like we said before, pure money, honey!

‘Pure Honey’ is set to launch worldwide in September 2013, in Lord & Taylor and Belk stores. By that time, she should be a mother.

The Skinny On Laurence Dumont Eau de Parfum, Vanille Bourbon

This was blind buy, and its the best perfume I have, so far. I was looking for a long lasting gourmet vanilla without florals, green or fruit notes. Vanille Patchouli represents a travel in the Indian Ocean. The fresh top note includes citrus fruits, neroli and geranium, leading to patchouli and peru balm. The base notes include tonka bean and vanilla.

This a is a lovely vanilla scent. Uncomplicated yummy vanilla. It does not smell cheap or plastic. And the delivery was super fast. Great seller and great product. Perfect, spray 5 sprays in the morning, can still smell it at night. Its not overpowering at s all, light and warm. Love it! Smells so yummy

It's a vanilla that smells like the essential oil. It's a very warm scent, no alehydes. So comforting to wear. I really like it and it lasts well too. Bottom line, sweet and spicy, with a touch of floral and citrus to lighten it up. Great for the price, and definitely unique.

Cupcakes, Frozen Yogurt Sweet Spring Perfumes

Over the last few years, market analysts have reported a boom in spring scent sales - with the number of fragrance launches rocketing. This spring sees the launch of scents from a number of household names, with each release is expected to be typical of the season, swapping heady, complex scents for lighter, single-note varieties. But with so many gorgeous-smelling fragrances on the market, it can be a tough gig trying to choose a season-appropriate signature scent.
  1. Ivanka Trump: I had the pleasure of breakfasting with Ivanka for the launch of this perfume, and being a canny businesswoman, she said the reason she went the fruity-floral route is because of how popular it is. The color and the bottle represent the scent very well. It's just pretty with a small touch of sophistication. Her fragrance is definitely sweet at the top, but there's a warm vanilla-patchouli thing happening, too, which is what lingers behind. Ivanka Trump is the daytime of Flowerbomb. Very classy like Ivanka Trump herself. This is a great scent for any developing young lady. It smells like Justin Bieber's someday without that weird fruity grape scent to it.
  2. Alice & Peter Wicked Berry: The bottle alone makes it worth the money: a cupcake-shaped affair with an icing cap yet is looks like a pile of frozen yogurt. Brand Alice & Peter comes out on the market in October 2012 with the line of five fragrances of fruity and gourmand aromas, inspired by cupcakes, yet complex and not just childish. It's a sensual and warm fragrance of berries. It smells like berry and lilac frosting where the combination reminds me of lemon-lime soda (like Sprite) with berries and musk in the background. There is a slight powdery nature to the fragrance and the vanilla,Top notes: lemon, lime, bergamot and orange. Heart: rose, freesia, lilac, blackberry, black currant and raspberry. Base: amber, sandalwood, vanilla and white musk. wears down into a delicately sweet, light musk, with nary a trace of gummy candy.
  3. Betty Barclay Tender Blossom: Betty Barclay Tender Blossom shows, inspired by flowers trends on the international catwalks, as a fashionable and trend-conscious fragrance. Through the inspiration, it seems like this spring, which was drawn into the bottle. The fragrance highlights the femininity charm shine. Also, the bottle appears in a delicate sensual dreamy natural color and is then offered to the exciting package with flower bed. A real bold news of the spring. Fruity notes of melon and litchi are introductory notes of the perfume. Its core captures flowers of cyclamen, magnolia, peony and freesia. The base houses accords of sandalwood, musk and cedar.
  4. Jennifer Lopez Forever Glowing: This bottle takes the cake in terms of fun: this is an interesting scent, at first sniff I detect the saffron, it isn't too much, it gives a twist to the scent. J Lo is taking a new direction, it is more a soft oriental to my nose. It has lots of notes and some I do not get at all like the toffee and the vanilla, neither do I get the iris. The patchouli is present throughout but seems watery, or maybe it clashes with the other notes. It’s like being at a rave. This Lopez's nineteenth fragrance, has a similar construction to Ivanka Trump (vanilla, patchouli), but is much less floral. And like Wicked Berry, it’s got an intense sugary quality, only here it lasts from the first spray until you wash it off. It’s like being rubbed down with a just-baked glazed doughnut. Or so I'm told.
