Hamilton man throws perfume, jailed

A Hamilton man who threw a perfume bottle and a skateboard at his partner has been jailed.

Terrence Ashly Henry had no house where he could serve an electronically monitored sentence, so was sentenced to four months' prison on four charges of assault with intent to injure, fail to answer district court bail and two of assault with a blunt instrument.

The court heard Henry, 24, threw the bottle of perfume at his partner and on a separate occasion threw a skateboard at her, hitting her stomach while she was pregnant.

Through his lawyer Jarom Keung, Henry disputed it hit her stomach and said it was her arm.

Mr Keung said Henry was remorseful for his actions and both he and his partner, who was in court to support him, were keen to get back together once he was released from jail.
