Conditional discharge for Kate Moss perfume thief

A Barnstaple woman was given a conditional discharge by North Devon Magistrates’ Court after stealing a bottle of Kate Moss perfume while waiting for her prescription.

Defence lawyer Tim Hook told the court at length how Mandy Hooper, 45, of Brewer Road, was picking up medication for a respiratory problem when she took a display bottle of the perfume on July 31, which had been reduced to £10.

Lead magistrate Jane Kivlin recognised Mrs Hooper’s financial circumstances and that she had now been banned from her regular pharmacy on Eastern Avenue at Whiddon Valley, meaning a lengthy daily walk across Barnstaple to pick up her prescription, and only hit her with a mandatory £15 surcharge on top of the 12 month conditional discharge.
