Beyoncé’s Big Announcement Was a Pepsi Ad--Not A New Perfume

We're all very excited about Beyonce's teaser clip and what might be unveiled the following day (4 April, 2013). But we've been burnt before.

Remember the big Justin Timberlake announcement date, which was in fact to announce that he was ready to return to music? Let's not have a repeat of that. If there's to be an announcement, please let it be for something worthwhile.

Beyoncé released a mysterious teaser for a big announcement due at 9 a.m. this morning. We hoped for a new song; we steeled ourselves for another confusing clock. I thought this would be some new perfume or something related to music, what we did not account for is her new sweet contract with Pepsi.

It turned out to be … a Pepsi commercial disguised as a Justin Timberlake video. In fairness, the ad does contain a snippet of Bey's new single, "Grown Woman," and the 40 seconds or so sound promising. Money pays for art, we know, but no more six-second teasers for commercials, please. Just stick a few product-placement soda cans in there and call it a music video.
